Hillsboro Pediatric Clinic

Project Introduction

In May of 2024, Hillsboro Pediatric Clinic’s SOAR Team approached me to assist them in the creation of a healthcare document accessible to their patients, children from ages 3-18. The booklet would mimic the style and appearance of an American passport, and provide essential educational information and resources for children to better understand their own healthcare and how to transition to adult healthcare.

The booklet itself should mimic the tone and visual identity of the clinic and make use of illustrations to better cater to this young demographic.

This booklet leads the patient through a series of seven overall steps to understanding their healthcare. The client desired for these steps to be represented as a tree growing from its initial planting as a seed to a fully grown, blossoming tree able to stand on its own.

Further digital drafts aimed towards recreating some of the clinic’s currently existing branding and illustrations into single color assets usable for the booklet.

Several drafts of the stage icons proceeded, adding elements such as sunlight, rain, birds, nests, and more.

Along with the stages of growth icons, the passport cover and title underwent several changes before reaching the final product, incorporating color and playfulness into the design.

Once an official title was decided, the front and back cover was finalized, using illustrative assets from the clinic’s website to add a youthful nature to the booklet.

The final, print ready layout of the booklet was wrapped up with a grand total of thirty two pages of healthcare information and resources, and is now available to patients of the clinic.
